How to use this tool

  • Select Count word lengths. Words follow the disclosed letter/number token rule; lengths count Unicode code points.
  • Download word-lengths.json for every histogram bucket and exact count/mean pair.

Examples

For a ab ab abc, lengths 1, 2 and 3 have counts 1, 2 and 1, with exact mean 8/4 code points.

Limitations

  • 200,000 UTF-16 units, 800,000 UTF-8 bytes, 50,000 tokens/distinct tokens, 1,000 distinct length buckets, 5 MiB report and a 30-second processing limit.
  • Words start with a Unicode letter or number and continue with letters, numbers or marks. The bucket count is not a maximum word length.
  • No sentence-length distribution, grapheme width, normalization, linguistic segmentation or readability certification.
