How to use this tool
- Enter Text input or choose a UTF-8 text file (optional); a selected file takes precedence.
- Select Visualize whitespace. Source order and non-whitespace data are retained; source backslashes double.
- Select Download result for visible-whitespace.txt and Download whitespace-report.json for the complete occurrence, count and line-event report.
Examples
A tab becomes \u{0009}. A source spelling of that token doubles its backslash, preserving a reversible distinction.
Limitations
- At most 200,000 UTF-16 input units and 100,000 whitespace occurrences; at most 8 MiB JSON, 4 MiB visible text and 30 seconds. A chosen UTF-8 file must also fit 5 MiB.
- CRLF is two code-point occurrences and one line event. Lone CR/LF, NEL, line separator and paragraph separator each count as one line event. Vertical tab and form feed are occurrences, not inferred line events.
- FEFF/BOM is not in the inspected set and remains data. Uploaded BOM and line endings are retained; textarea line endings normalize to LF. This is an inventory, not cleanup or a security verdict.
