Examples
He said "don't". becomes He said “don’t”.
Limitations
- At most 200000 UTF-16 units, 800000 UTF-8 bytes and 5 MiB combined output; 30 seconds. Select one UTF-8 file to replace paste, including an empty file. Files preserve CRLF/CR/LF; a native textarea normalizes line endings to LF.
- At most 50000 replacement records. A single quote between ASCII letters or digits becomes a right apostrophe. Other straight quotes open at a record start or after a space, tab or opening bracket, and close elsewhere. No language, nesting, escaping or typographic correctness claim. Reverse conversion changes only U+2018, U+2019, U+201C and U+201D.
