User-selected tab, window or screen, Optional browser-shared audio

WebM

Browser only

Runs locally in your browser. Your files, pasted content and generated output are not uploaded. Reset clears this tool’s working data.

This tool needs JavaScript. If it does not load, refresh the page and try again.

How to use this tool

  • Choose whether to request shared audio, then select Start recording.
  • In the browser sharing chooser, select the source you intend to record and grant permission. Review what will be visible. Audio must also be supported and selected in that chooser.
  • Select Stop and save, or stop sharing in the browser. Review the local playback and download the recording.
  • Discard recording and Reset stop owned tracks and clear output. Reset also restores the audio option. Keep this page open while recording.

Examples

Record a short walkthrough of a browser tab and download it locally.

Limitations

  • Requires HTTPS, getDisplayMedia and native WebM MediaRecorder support. Mobile support is limited; an unavailable browser gets an explicit unsupported message. A browser permission and source chooser appears for every recording.
  • Capture is limited to 1920×1080 at 30 fps when the browser can apply those constraints. Encoding targets 2.5 Mbps video and 128 kbps audio; actual quality, bitrate, frame rate and codec support depend on the browser.
  • 128 MiB received/output limit. A five-minute automatic stop timer runs while the page is scheduled; suspended or throttled tabs can delay the time cutoff. Stop manually for an exact intended length. A byte-limit or recorder failure discards partial output.
  • Shared audio is optional and depends on the selected surface, operating system and browser. The tool never requests a microphone or webcam. No server fallback, automatic source selection or persistent capture permission is used.
  • Output is native browser WebM. Container duration/seeking metadata and encoded timing can vary. The elapsed-time display includes finalization and is not an exact encoded duration. Review playback before keeping the recording.
  • Record only content you intend to share. Stop/reset/discard release every owned capture track. Reset revokes the local preview/download URL; separately downloaded files stay on your device.
