Camera RAW inspector and preview

Inspect selected common camera RAW metadata or extract the existing embedded JPEG or bitmap preview locally.

Supported camera RAW (tested CR2, NEF, ARW, Bayer DNG)

JSON, JPEG, PNG

How to use this tool

  • Choose a supported camera RAW file up to 64 MiB.
  • Select common metadata or existing embedded preview.
  • Inspect locally and download the result. Preview extraction fails explicitly if no supported preview exists.

Examples

Inspect a Nikon NEF camera model and dimensions, or extract its existing camera JPEG preview.

Limitations

  • Local LibRaw 0.22.2 stable decoder. Camera model and compression determine support, not filename extension. Tested camera fixtures include Canon EOS 350D CR2, Nikon D2H NEF, Sony ILCE-7S ARW and a controlled uncompressed Bayer DNG. Other models may work but are not guaranteed.
  • Input at most 64 MiB, 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side; developed output at most 16 megapixels. The native worker has a 512 MiB memory ceiling, a 256 MiB RAW allocation setting and a 120-second overall deadline. Some mobile devices may have less memory available.
  • First RAW image only. Headerless sensor dumps, ordinary raster images, Adobe DNG SDK/GoPro/X3F-dependent formats and JPEG XL or VC-5 compressed DNG are unsupported. Optional RawSpeed and professional development plug-ins are absent.
  • Decoder assets download on first use; the selected file stays in your browser. CDDL-selected source, notices, build instructions and relocatable archives are supplied with the decoder.
  • Metadata mode reads selected common camera, dimension, exposure and white-balance fields; it is not an exhaustive EXIF/GPS audit or full RAW integrity test. Zero exposure fields may mean unavailable, and the stored timestamp has no independently verified timezone.
  • Embedded-preview mode extracts the existing JPEG byte stream or encodes a stored eight-bit bitmap as PNG. It does not develop sensor data. Preview is limited to 16 MiB and 16 megapixels; absent, unsupported or corrupt previews fail explicitly. Extracted JPEG bytes may retain metadata; the on-page preview uses stored orientation and excludes source metadata.
