How to use this tool

  • Enter a nonnegative income and a JSON array with exactly upper and rate per bracket. All amounts and rates are decimal strings; only the final upper may be null.
  • Finite upper bounds must be positive and strictly increase. Enter rates from 0 through 100; a finite final cap must cover the whole income.
  • Select Calculate entered progressive brackets and download entered-bracket-tax.json. Exact slices are summed before the total is rounded once to two decimal places.

Examples

Income 50000 with 10% through 10000 and 20% above produces exact tax 9000 and net amount 41000.

Limitations

  • At most 100 brackets, 65,536 input bytes, 4,096 exact-intermediate digits, 1 MiB complete output and 30 seconds. Decimal strings allow at most 18 coefficient digits and 6 fractional digits; no signs, exponents or surrounding spaces.
  • The last applied rate belongs to the highest positive income slice. The marginal rate is infinitesimally above the entered income; at a threshold it uses the next bracket, and at a finite final cap it is null.
  • Zero income uses an effective rate of 0/1 and a null last applied rate. All zero slices remain in the report. Display total rounds half away from zero once to two places.
  • This is arithmetic over entered synthetic brackets. It supplies no jurisdiction rules, allowances, filing calculation or tax or financial advice.
