How to use this tool
- Choose a PDF document and enter Field renames (JSON) as an array of exact from/to strings.
- Use the original field names. Swaps are evaluated simultaneously; untouched field names also take part in collision checking.
- Select Rename fields. Download renamed-fields.pdf and field-renames.json.
Examples
[{"from":"Name","to":"Account"},{"from":"Account","to":"Name"}] swaps two original field names while their values stay with the same field objects.
Limitations
- One PDF up to 50 MiB, 500 pages and 100,000 objects; 500 root terminal fields/mappings and 256 KiB JSON. PDF output up to 100 MiB; report up to 20 MiB; 120-second worker limit.
- Root terminal fields can be merged field/widget dictionaries or have separate widget children. Nested field hierarchies and ambiguous identities are not supported.
- New names need 1–128 Unicode code points, with a non-whitespace character. Dots, controls and line/paragraph separators are rejected. Names are not trimmed, normalized or case-folded.
- Field/widget references, values, options, flags, rectangles and saved appearances stay with the original fields. No filling, flattening or field-type conversion.
- Signed/unsafe PDFs, unsupported page units/rotation and missing required saved appearances are rejected; appearances are not regenerated.
