PDF Raster Compressor
Create a smaller-resolution image-based PDF with adjustable JPEG quality.
Browser only
Your input and output are processed in this browser. They are not uploaded for processing. No account is required.
This tool needs JavaScript. If it does not load, refresh the page and try again.
How to use this tool
- Choose a PDF and optionally select pages.
- Choose a lower DPI and JPEG quality. Review the actual size difference and output quality before use.
- Choose Process PDF. Review the result and download it.
- Reset clears files and output. Changing settings clears stale results; Cancel terminates the active local worker.
Examples
Reduce a scanned packet to 96 DPI and 65% JPEG quality for a smaller reading copy.
Limitations
Processing is browser-local; document bytes are never uploaded.
Unencrypted PDFs only. 50 MiB per PDF, 100 MiB total, 20 files and 500 pages. A worker can be cancelled and stops after 120 seconds.
Edited documents do not preserve document-level forms, bookmarks, attachments, actions or digital signatures. Keep the original and review outputs.
At most 100 selected pages, 12 megapixels per rendered page/image and 100 megapixels total. Some advanced masks/transfer filters are unsupported; decoding failures stop rather than produce partial output.
Annotations/form widgets are not rendered. ICC uses PDF alternate color spaces; color-critical output needs review.
Raster compression is lossy: text search, vectors, annotations, forms and links are replaced by page images. Output can be larger; actual before/after byte counts are reported.
