How to use this tool
- Choose PDF documents in picker order. Set Prefix, Suffix, Starting serial and Minimum digits.
- Set Font size (points) and Visible corner. Labels use a fixed 12-point inset and must fit each complete visible page area.
- Select Apply Bates numbers and download bates-pdfs.zip. The manifest lists every original document and its first/last serial and label.
Examples
Starting at 98 with prefix CASE- and four minimum digits produces CASE-0098, CASE-0099 and CASE-0100 across a two-page PDF followed by a one-page PDF.
Limitations
- 1–10 PDFs, at most 50 MiB each, 100 MiB combined, 500 total pages and 100,000 objects per modified PDF; 120-second worker limit.
- Start and final serial are nonnegative integers of at most 12 digits. Minimum digits 1–12; whole font size 6–36 points. Prefix/suffix each admit 100 standard Western Latin characters without controls.
- Stamped PDFs, JSON manifest and conservative ZIP overhead must fit 100 MiB. Labels wider or taller than the visible mark area are rejected.
- Supported passive links, original page geometry, forms, values and saved appearances remain. Signed PDFs, active actions, unsupported page units/rotation and forms needing appearance regeneration are rejected.
- Visible identifiers do not certify legal compliance, authenticity, chain of custody or digital signatures.
