How to use this tool
- Paste one table with a header row, a hyphen-and-optional-colon separator and matching body rows.
- Escape literal pipes as \|, including inside inline code. Blank lines around the table are allowed.
- Select Format table and download formatted-table.md.
- Review the result in your Markdown editor; padding width counts code points in source markup rather than visual display columns.
Examples
| Name | Score |
| :--- | ---: |
| Alice | 12 |
| Bob | 3 |
Limitations
- Input: 200,000 UTF-16 code units; 1–100 columns, 10,000 rows including the header but excluding the separator, and 100,000 cells. Output: 2 MiB UTF-8; worker deadline: 30 seconds.
- Accepts one top-level GFM pipe table only. Surrounding prose, lists, fenced blocks, reference definitions, ragged rows and ambiguous unsupported structures are rejected.
- Original cell-edge whitespace is trimmed; internal markup, escaped-pipe parity and column alignment are retained. Output uses LF line endings, outer pipes and one final newline.
- Padding counts Unicode code points in markup, not grapheme clusters or terminal display width. There is no HTML preview or arbitrary Markdown-document formatting.
