How to use this tool
- Choose a local HEIC/HEIF still-image file.
- Choose Process HEIC, review the dimensions and scope note, then download the result.
- Cancel and Reset stop processing and clear results. Leave the optional local decoder replacement empty for normal use.
Examples
Inspect a multi-image HEIC file to find its primary image and stored dimensions.
Limitations
- 32 MiB input, 16 million pixels per image, 16,384 pixels per side, 32 top-level still images and 32 million total top-level pixels. Worker has a 45-second deadline and 256 MiB WASM memory ceiling; complex files can reach memory limits below the pixel ceiling.
- HEVC still-image HEIC/HEIF only. No HEIC encoding, AVIF decoding, video or image sequences. Inspector reports top-level image properties and is not an exhaustive metadata audit.
- Primary image is selected by default; converters can choose another stored image by number. Container rotation, reflection and crop are applied. EXIF-only orientation is not a guaranteed substitute.
- Eight-bit output. Higher-depth input is reduced to eight bits; HDR tone mapping and embedded ICC color fidelity are not guaranteed. Outputs omit source metadata. PNG preserves alpha; JPEG flattens onto the chosen color and JPEG/WebP quality is lossy.
- First use downloads the decoder and verifies the included asset hashes. Input files remain in the browser. LGPL decoder source, full notices, relinking files and optional local WASM replacement are provided.
