How to use this tool
- Choose a font, then choose a single converted font, webfont kit or TrueType ↔ CFF outline conversion.
- Single-file mode uses the selected output format. Kit mode always includes WOFF2 and WOFF; enter a CSS family alias and specimen text.
- Outline mode accepts standalone TTF/OTF. Choose the other outline type and, for CFF → TrueType, an approximation tolerance in font units. Review the reported changed tables and bearings, and inspect rendering before use.
- Choose Process font and download. Extract the kit and serve its folder over HTTP(S) to test relative font loading. Review descriptor warnings and the original font license before embedding or redistributing.
- Cancel terminates active work. Reset clears the chosen font and generated downloads.
Examples
Inspect or convert a local OpenType font without uploading it.
Limitations
- 10 MiB input, 32 MiB output, 256 font tables, 1 MiB container metadata/private data, 256 MiB native memory, 60-second verified-engine download and worker timeout.
- Single-font TTF/OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 only. Collections, EOT, Type 1, SVG fonts and symbol-only fonts are unsupported. Supported Unicode cmap formats: 0, 4, 12 and 13.
- Container and kit conversion preserve outline type. The separate outline mode converts static TrueType ↔ CFF1; it removes hinting and signatures, flattens components and recalculates bounds/side bearings while preserving advance widths, glyph order, names, license records and compatible layout-table bytes.
- Use fonts your license permits you to convert, modify, embed and redistribute. Embedded name/license records are retained; reported OS/2 flags do not grant rights. No-subsetting flags prevent subsetting.
- Subsetting keeps supplied Unicode characters with HarfBuzz shaping closure; missing characters and dropped tables are reported. Some unsupported tables may be removed. Test appearance before using output.
- Instancing accepts existing axis tags within their original ranges. Unspecified axes remain variable. Font collections and separate face selection are unsupported.
- Webfont metadata/private bytes are preserved between WOFF formats and offered as sidecar downloads for SFNT. Inspector is a structural inventory, not a complete font sanitizer. Browser preview may use fallback glyphs for missing characters.
- Kit: 10 MiB input and 32 MiB combined ZIP contents/output, with a 120-second overall deadline. Font conversions each retain the existing 60-second and 256 MiB native-memory bounds. Existing single-file behavior is preserved.
- Kit CSS maps OS/2 weight/width/style and supported variable weight/width ranges. Other variable axes remain in the font and are pinned to their defaults in the specimen; complex italic/slant/custom mappings need manual CSS edits or a font instance. Fallback descriptors are listed in the report.
- The family alias changes CSS only. Embedded names/license records, source glyph coverage and outline type are preserved; no subset is generated. HTML sample text and CSS aliases are escaped. Missing glyphs may use browser fallback fonts.
- A local export is not a license decision. OS/2 flags and embedded records do not establish ownership or permission; add any separately required original license or notice files before web embedding or redistribution.
- Outline mode: 4 MiB standalone TTF/OTF input, 2,000 glyphs, 48 tables, 200,000 source/expanded/output points, 16 component levels, 20,000 aggregate component visits, 12 million Python-line events, 256 MiB native memory, 120-second overall deadline and 8 MiB output. About 14 MiB of verified runtime assets are downloaded; fonts stay local.
- Outline profile rejects variable/color fonts, CFF2, CID-keyed CFF, transformed CFF matrices, vertical or unsupported tables, point-matched composites and layout records referring to outline point numbers. Open contours, invalid checksums/ranges and unrepresentable CFF numeric coordinates are rejected.
- CFF → TrueType approximates curves using a 0.25–4 font-unit tolerance before integer rounding (up to 0.71 font-unit point displacement). TrueType → CFF uses equivalent cubic curves at CFF numeric precision. Hint removal and rasterizer differences can change small-size appearance. Font modification/embedding rights must come from your original license.
