How to use this tool
- Choose Direction and paste Text input or choose a file. Set CSV delimiter as required.
- Enter Comma-separated code-point widths. For fixed output, enter one left/right Per-field alignments value per field (empty means all left), and choose Fixed-output record separator.
- Select Convert, then Download result for converted.csv or fixed-width.txt. Cancel stops unfinished work; Reset restores defaults.
Examples
Widths 2,2,2 split A😀é 中 into A😀, é, and space+中; emoji counts once while a combining mark counts separately.
Limitations
- 5 MiB input,50000 total records,500 fields,500000 cells,10000 total code points per record,20 MiB output and 30 seconds.
- Widths measure Unicode scalar code points, not bytes, graphemes or terminal/display columns. No legacy byte encoding or inferred cut-position UI.
- Fixed input admits CRLF, CR or LF and ignores only the empty suffix of one final terminator. Other blank records remain and must match the layout. All field padding remains.
- Fixed output rejects embedded CR/LF and overflow, never truncates, and has LF/CRLF separators without a final terminator. CSV values are literal with no formula protection or inferred header.
