Classical Rotation Cipher

Encode or decode ASCII Caesar shifts and ROT47 while preserving other text and file line endings.

How to use this tool

  • Enter Text or choose a UTF-8 file, which takes precedence.
  • Choose Rotation and Direction. Set the signed Caesar shift for Caesar; ROT47 ignores that field.
  • Select Rotate text and download rotated.txt plus rotation.json.

Examples

Caesar encode with shift 13 changes Hello, world! to Uryyb, jbeyq!; decoding restores the original.

Limitations

  • 1 MiB input, 1,048,576 UTF-16 units, 5 MiB combined output and a 30-second processing limit. Caesar shift permits at most 7 decimal digits and magnitude 1,000,000, with at most 8 raw units.
  • Caesar transforms ASCII letters only. ROT47 transforms visible ASCII ! through ~ and ignores the Caesar shift. Other text and file line endings remain; paste follows native line normalization.
  • No secure encryption, arbitrary alphabets or brute-force list of every shift.
