How to use this tool
- Choose Input mode: Octal or Checkboxes.
- Enter the octal digits or select the twelve permission flags for that mode. Unused mode inputs are ignored.
- Select Calculate permissions and download permissions.json.
Examples
4755 produces permission-only symbolic text rwsr-xr-x; 4644 uses uppercase S because owner execute is absent.
Limitations
- Octal 0000 through 7777, twelve Boolean flags, 64 KiB report and 30 seconds.
- Octal input uses one to four ASCII octal digits after outer trimming, without signs, prefixes or separators. Symbolic output has no leading file-type character.
- No symbolic chmod expressions, generated shell command, filesystem access, umask, ACLs or platform enforcement.
