How to use this tool

  • Choose measurement units and enter the adult measurements and equation options.
  • Choose Calculate estimate and review the equation, result and limitations.
  • Download the text result if useful. Reset restores the example and clears output.

Examples

Male equation: height 70 in, neck 15 in and abdomen 34 in gives approximately 17.5%.

Limitations

  • Inputs and outputs stay in your browser. These are estimates, not diagnoses or personalized intake targets.
  • Educational scope ages 20–60 only; equations originated in military populations and are not validated for every body type. Age is a scope check, not an equation term. Excludes pregnancy, breastfeeding and clinical assessment.
  • Height 100–250 cm, neck 20–70 cm, abdomen/waist 40–200 cm and applicable hips 40–220 cm. These bounds do not establish a healthy range. Results outside 0–100% fail rather than being clipped.
  • Measure neck just below the larynx. Male equation uses the abdomen at the navel; female equation uses the narrowest natural waist and widest buttocks. Use a level, snug tape without compressing skin and a relaxed exhalation.
  • Measurements are converted to inches without military rounding rules. Male/female choices select historical equations; no current service standard, diagnosis or change-tracking accuracy is implied. Measurement errors and body proportions can substantially affect estimates.
