How to use this tool
- Choose measurement units and enter the adult measurements and equation options.
- Choose Calculate estimate and review the equation, result and limitations.
- Download the text result if useful. Reset restores the example and clears output.
Examples
A 35-year-old using the male equation at 70 kg has estimated BMR 1676.1 kcal/day; PAL 1.6 gives 2681.8 kcal/day.
Limitations
- Inputs and outputs stay in your browser. These are estimates, not diagnoses or personalized intake targets.
- General adults aged 20–120, weight 20–350 kg and entered PAL 1.4–2.4. Input bounds are software limits, not healthy ranges. Excludes pregnancy, breastfeeding and clinical nutrition.
- Uses the Schofield weight-based equations in FAO/WHO/UNU Table 5.2, with age bands below 30, 30–59 and 60+. Their source populations and historical measurement methods limit individual accuracy. Male/female choices are equation categories, not gender identity.
- PAL is total daily energy divided by BMR; it is not an exercise-calorie multiplier. Select it from the whole day, not one workout. Daily output is a scenario estimate, not a recommended intake, diet or weight-change target.
